“Geographical Indications and the Lisbon System: A Training Success in Mongolia”
Recently, Mongolian IP officers, attorneys, and agents had the opportunity to learn about Geographical Indications (GIs) and the Lisbon System from experts. Mrs. Alexandra Grazioli, Director of the Lisbon Registry, and Mrs. Ozden Ilhan, a WIPO fellow, led the training, which was organized by the Department for Trademarks, Designs, and Geographical Indication of the WIPO.

During the four-day training (September 16-19, 2024), participants delved into the intricacies of GIs, exploring how these unique product identifiers can protect and promote local heritage. A particular focus was on pine nuts as a potential GI product for Mongolia, and the training addressed strategies for managing the communities involved in GI registration.

The goal was to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance the competitive capacity of Mongolian GI products and elevate their brand status on the global market.

If you have any questions about registering GIs in Mongolia or/and promoting GI products, please don't hesitate to contact ATS Partners.
