Conference of Inventors and Innovators

Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, the Conference of Inventors and Innovators organized on 27th of November 2024 at the Government Building.

This conference is being organized to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the establishment and development of the intellectual property system in Mongolia. The event is co-hosted by the Office of the President of Mongolia, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Intellectual Property Office, the United Federation of Mongolian Inventors, and other organizations. The foundation of Mongolia’s intellectual property legal framework started on May 19, 1944, when the Council of Ministers of the People’s Republic of Mongolia approved Decree No. 63, titled "Guidelines for Rewarding and Encouraging of creation of inventions, and Practical ideas in Industry." This decree marked the beginning of registering new inventions and practical ideas and issuing certificates of rights to authors. It laid the groundwork for today's intellectual property and innovation systems in Mongolia. Since that time, Mongolia has become a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, and has joined more than 16 international treaties and conventions. More than 600 representatives, including inventors, innovators, and researchers from the public and private sectors as well as academic institutions, participated in this conference. The goal of the conference is to review the history of Mongolia's innovation and invention sectors, outline future development trends, unify inventors and innovators, and invigorate activities aimed at leveraging technology and intellectual investments for national development. Key presentations at the conference include:

  • National Innovation Systems and Opportunities for Collaboration
  • Policies and Systems for Training Inventors and Engineers
Leading experts in the field are sharing valuable insights and solutions. Recommendations consolidated from the conference participants will be submitted to the Parliament, the Government, and central administrative bodies responsible for science, technology, and intellectual property matters for further action. As part of the conference, an "Exhibition of Inventors and Engineers" organized at Building VIII of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, showcasing national creative initiatives and latest innovative products to the public.
